Meet Kolton.

Kolton in his studio in Vancouver.

A natural-born artist and community builder, Kolton attributes his creative inspiration and entrepreneurial drive to his desire to fill the world with what he appreciates.

Growing up on the North Shore, Kolton’s parents put him and his brothers through several extra-curricular activities. Although sports played a heavy influence in the family, he tended to gravitate to the arts and found a sense of home expressing his creativity through drawing and painting. The act of making something from nothing sparked a genuine desire to simply create.

At nine years old, his aunt introduced him to the art of beaded jewelry. For many kids this age, homemade jewelry would never make its way out the door, but Kolton’s experience was different. His mother was the first to fashion his freshly minted pieces - and her friends took notice. Desiring pieces of their own, Kolton gained his first set of clientele as a result.

Learning silversmithing at 14, he didn’t let being the youngest in his class keep him from receiving high praise from his instructor at the time. Fast forward many years later, he now receives this praise from a much larger audience as an established professional jeweller and advocate of the local creative community.

Furthermore, Kolton is a graphic designer by trade and is the creator of Manna Candle Company. He also leans in on his North Shore roots and brings together a collective of skilled artisans each year as a co-lead of the North Shore Craft Market.

They say you should surround yourself with people who inspire you. Kolton’s infectious energy and dedication to his craft does just that for me. Kudos to the North Shore kid that stayed true to his creative self and became the successful artist-entrepreneur he is today.
